Ricky had a good day at Bath & West, coming 2nd. & Reserve Champ in the Highlands 'In Hand' and 3rd. in the Open Ridden.

The showing season has got off to a good start with Kelly, who has been unable to ride for quite some time, winning the Intermediate on Ricky at Tambrook last weekend (23/5), their first time out this year. Ricky was also 2nd. in the Young Riders with Sarah riding.

Today Delilah and Abi got their Picton ticket at Brockenhurst, at the first time of trying, which is a huge breakthrough for Abi and we are thrilled for her.

First Foals of 2010

First to foal was Dudu who has produced a stunning colt named Rajah. Followed within a matter of hours by Inca having her first foal, a colt called 'M' " so many names to choose from but not yet one chosen!

Next to foal was Ivy who presented us with Iliana, another Ivy replica.

Delilah and Abi were 2nd. in their first ever Novice M&M Ridden Class at New Park Show

Freddie

Into the New Year and all systems go to get Monty up to the mark in preparation for the Addington Dressage Champs. Sadly all that came to nothing as he took a flyer in the mud and pulled something which took a while to settle down, so we missed the big event. However Freddie (Balleroy Mercury) was there with Helen and they did very well and were a credit to the Stud.

In spite of unusually cold weather over the winter we kept busy backing Yashmina and Rosie who has now gone to her new home in Buckinghamshire.

Delilah had her first ever days hunting on 27th. November, with the New Forest Hunt - a great time was had by everyone and all the hard work that Abi has put into Delilah paid dividends, as she behaved like a dream.

Isla of Strathmore (Obituary)

Very sad news from the stud as Lily (Isla of Strathmore) died recently. Another of our original mares, Lily gave us countless lovely foals, all with unbeatable temperaments, charm and a love of life. Two of her daughters, apart from being prolific winners In Hand, are now brood mares here carrying on her good work. Lily is irreplacable though and, as Alpha female, has left another gap, not only in our lives but with the herd, who all looked up to her.

: Robbie seems to have settled in with his new family near Bath

19/9/2010 NEWBURY SHOW

Yoyo, Rigoletto and Ragtime were pulled out of bed early on Sunday to appear in the Highland, Fells & Dales classes at Newbury. Yoyo in the senior class and Ragtime in the Young stock class. Both were 3rd. in their mixed Breeds classes but Yoyo was Champion Highland & Best of Breed and also won the Kilmannan Silver Medal. Ricky was also 3rd., in the Open Ridden qualifier. Sadly no nice photos available from the day.

Stud walk here today went well with 15 members of the HPEC arriving after a lunch at our local, the Malt Shovel, having visited Frances McWilliam's Finches Stud in the morning. All ponies on best behaviour, likewise walkers! Happy day had by all.

11.9.2010 Stop Press!!!

Ricky won the Ridden class at Romsey Show today, was Reserve Champion and won the Silver Medal. Great day for Kelly and Ricks, in spite of Kelly having a nasty fall in the Workers earlier in the day.

NPS Championships

NPS Malvern - A last minute decision to go to Malvern resulted in our having a hugely successful show, with Yoyo winning the Highland brood mare class and going Champion In Hand; Rigoletto, her foal, was 2nd. in his class; likewise Rioja was 2nd. in the yearling class, also winning the cup for the best Highland Gelding at the show, which Ricky won last year.. Yoyo's win was particularly special as she was overall Champion in 2006 as a 6 y.o. and then repeated the result at ten.
