2011

Start of Year Photo

Balleroy Maverick - 2011 Ricky's year

Ricky is now with Claire Collier, who has him on loan and will be competing with him this year. They have had a couple of trial runs at BSPS shows, where they have done very well, already bringing home several wins, a couple of championships and a reserve.
Ricks appears to have settled in well and although greatly missed here, has taken the move in his stride. Best of luck to Claire for the coming season.

Razz - The Ridden Pony

27 March 2011

Ricky had a fantastic day last Sunday at Malvern, claiming his ticket to the Royal International & winning the Heritage Championship. The day started badly, with Claire being taken ill and unable to ride but fortunately her friend, Sarah Challinor, stepped into the breach at the very last minute, and rode Ricks superbly to win.

Monty qualified for NPS Dressage Finals at Addington with Gemma and was also 1st. in his first test in the long arena with me. Rupert was 3rd. in his first attempt at doing a test.

Isla arrived safely at her new home in Cambridgeshire where she will be in the safe hands of Chris and Jo.

6th June 2011 - Yashmina, now a ridden pony - sadly For Sale

Yashmina is sadly for sale and looking for some wonderful person to fall in love with her. At 14.3 h.h. she a fun pony, with charm, personality and masses of ability. Already hacking out alone, she has taken to the riding lark like a duck to water.

Ricky 1st and Champion in the Junior Ridden Class, ridden beautifully by Claire's friend, 16 year old Amber Thorpe, qualifying him for the Royal International!!
He has now qualified for 2 classes at the Royal International - What a star!!  Ricks is going to have a busy time at Hickstead!

June 19th - Berkshire College

We all enjoyed a really nice day on 19 June at Berkshire College where the HPEC amalgamated with Connemaras and Fell Pony Society for the first time, and ran a lovely show.
Our ponies had a cracking day. Izzy won the youngstock In Hand and behaved beautifully.
Rupert won both the In Hand and Ridden Championships - this being his very first Ridden show. Monty was a Super Star - first ridden show and first time over a course and he was 2nd. in the Ridden and won the Workers!! Funny how this sort of thing can give you so much pleasure. Both ponies were beautifully ridden by Gemma.

17.7.2011

Ricky gave us all a huge thrill today, winning the HOYS Qualifier at North of England Show, Arena UK, from a class of 27. Fantastic, and congratulations to Claire and Shirley Collier and Katy Bacon, who rode him today. What a team.
It was particularly good news as Mother is grounded at home with a broken leg and needed cheering up.

Who is a clever boy then ...

Duke, Dougie's childhood friend, has upped his game and is now going to driving "Events", behaving like a true gentleman and even winning prizes, this time with Alison driving, whilst The Duchess sat on the sidelines applauding. Dougie is suitably impressed.

Little Star

More news from Duke who was such an integral part of Dougie coming to us here -  follow up photos of Duke after his successes of the last two weekends, plus his winning 'roll'.
Below is a letter from the Duchess detailing his achievements .....
"If I was excited last week I am ecstatic this one! We tried our first Trec.comp on Sunday. Part 1:- timed 8 grueling miles on grass, roads and tracks over the Marlborough downs at Barbary Castle, followed by 2:- an extensive skills test. We came 2nd in ponies and 3rd over-all, 18 forward, most of whom had done it several times before. The 2nd picture is his " victory roll" the first is his overall rosettes for the 2 competitions, 3 classes over the 2 Sundays. There are no more comps. for the moment, there is no more room on his mane.! What a "season" we have had, all 7 days of it ! 2 very different types of comp. 3 classes and 5 rosettes. What a star. To day we cannot stop kissing and cuddling him. Not much in sight only some training classes and B.D.S. rallies, but as Alison says "there is room for improvement",
best wishes Duch

Bank Holiday Weekend

At last we seem to be getting the show on the road again after two months of frustration and bother with my ankle.
We planned a busy Bank Holiday weekend:
  • Saturday with a dressage test for Rupert, where he qualified for the NPS Championships at Addington.
  • Monty went on to be first in his test the next day
  • Monday we went to the Cricklade Show with Rupert, where he won his first ever Picton Qualifier.

Balleroy Ruaridh

Ruaridh won the over 14 h.h., 4 y.o. & over gelding class, being beautifully shown by Iona Wener, first time out for both of them. This was hugely thrilling for the whole Wener family, who had travelled from Southern Germany for the event bringing both Ruaridh & Sporran with them.

Fantastic, Ricky goes to HOYS

Very well done to Ricky and Claire for doing so well at HOYS.  Brilliantly produced and ridden and a beautifully executed performance.
